The Thomson Foundation is a leading provider of media training. With headquarters in Cardiff, its consultants work worldwide training print journalists, broadcast journalists and photojournalists.
One of many current programmes involves the training of photojournalists in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Palestine. In 2008 the Foundation organised a competition for press photographers in these five countries. Just under 200 photographs were entered for the competition, the winner of which is to be announced at an awards ceremony in Amman on February 27th.
An exhibition of forty of the pictures submitted for the competition, printed and mounted in Oxford, will be launched in Amman on February 27th and then tour the region during the year.
